Fantasy sports platform Dream11 has officially withdrawn as the Indian cricket team’s title sponsor following the implementation of new gaming regulations. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development on Monday.
The withdrawal comes after the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025, which has imposed strict regulations on real-money gaming platforms. Dream11 cited the legislation’s impact on their business operations as the primary reason for ending the sponsorship deal.
“The company has informed the BCCI about its decision to withdraw from the sponsorship,” a board official confirmed. The fantasy sports company had been serving as India’s jersey sponsor since 2023.
BCCI officials acknowledged Dream11’s exit and stated that the cricket board will now initiate the process to find a replacement sponsor. The timing creates an immediate gap in the team’s commercial partnerships.
“We have received official communication from Dream11 regarding their withdrawal,” said a BCCI representative. “The board will take appropriate steps to secure a new title sponsor.”

Gaming Bill Impact Forces Major Sponsor Exit
The new gaming bill has created significant challenges for fantasy sports operators in India. Dream11’s decision reflects the broader impact of regulatory changes on companies operating in the online gaming space. The legislation has effectively restricted real-money gaming platforms, forcing several companies to reassess their marketing and sponsorship strategies.
Dream11’s withdrawal removes a significant revenue stream from the BCCI’s commercial portfolio. The fantasy sports platform had been paying substantial amounts for the title sponsorship rights. The BCCI will now need to identify and negotiate with potential replacement sponsors, with industry sources indicating that telecommunications and consumer goods companies may show interest.
The sponsorship withdrawal does not impact Team India’s playing schedule or preparations for upcoming tournaments. Players and team management continue their training and match preparations as scheduled, with cricket operations remaining separate from commercial partnerships.
